New Delhi. Kannada cinema’s dominance was seen in this year’s National Awards. This year, South superstar Yash’s film ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ received awards in two categories. ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ received the award for Best Action Direction and Best Kannada Film. This film was the sequel to ‘KGF Chapter 1’. Two big Bollywood stars Raveena Tandon and Sanjay Dutt were also seen in important roles in this film.
This is the second time that a film starring Raveena Tandon has received a National Award. Earlier in the year 1999, the film ‘Shool’ directed by Ram Gopal Varma had received the National Award. Recently, the actress expressed her happiness over the film ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ receiving the National Award and had a special conversation with News18 Shosha.
She says, ‘This is a matter of great happiness for us. This is our second National Award after ‘Shool’. I haven’t had a chance to talk to the team yet. However, my husband Anil Thadani went to Hyderabad to meet Neel Prashanth.’
Padma Shri winner Raveena Tandon said that even after being in the industry for 33 years, every award, especially a national honour, excites us. She says, ‘Of course awards still excite me. It is the appreciation you get for films that deserve it, and KGF: Chapter 2 getting that kind of recognition is a big achievement for us’.
Raveena Tandon refused to accept Yash starrer film ‘KGF Chapter 2’ as her comeback and said that this is not her comeback. I was working in between. I did Maatru and some Telugu films, so KGF: Chapter 2 was not a comeback. She further says, “I was lucky that this film came to me”.
