Kia Sells More than 1.26 lakh Vehicles in First Half of Calendar Year, Sonet, Seltos Getting Strong Response

South Korean automobile company Kia has sold more than 1.26 lakh units in the country in the first half of the current year. This is an increase of six percent compared to the same period last year. Sonet has a share of about 43 percent in the company’s sales. Kia has said that the demand for its vehicles made in the country has increased in the international market.

Seltos has a share of about 32 percent in the company’s sales and Carens about 25 percent. Last month, Kia exported 3,206 units. In the first half of this year, the company’s exports are more than 12,000 units. Last month, Kia sold about 21,300 units. This is an increase of more than nine percent compared to the same month last year.

The company has achieved a major milestone in the country. Its exports have exceeded 2.5 lakh vehicles. Seltos has a share of around 59 percent in the company’s exports. Kia’s factory is in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. In the last few years, the company’s sales have grown rapidly in the country. Sonet has a share of 34 percent and Carens has a seven percent share in Kia’s exports. It also sells MPV Carnival and electric vehicle EV6. Recently, the company claimed to have sold more than 9.8 lakh units of passenger vehicles in the country. Seltos has a share of around 50 percent in this. The company’s Sonet has crossed the sales of four lakh units in the country. It was launched four years ago.

Earlier this year, the company launched the updated Sonet. Of the customers who bought the Sonet, 63 percent have chosen its sunroof variants. Apart from this, 63 percent have bought its petrol engine and about 37 percent have bought its 1.5 liter diesel engine variant. South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group includes Hyundai Motor and Kia. Hyundai and Kia aim to launch hybrid SUVs in 2026 or 2027. Both these companies also have plans for EV.
