Aamir Khan’s ex-wife and producer Kiran Rao recently talked about her relationship with him. They said that their love started during the shooting of the film Swadesh. But there was no internet at that time, so there was a lot of difficulty in talking.
In a conversation with Filmfare, Kiran Rao said, ‘We had many ways to talk before mobile and internet. Internet was not everywhere so sometimes we had to climb a hill to get the network. Actually our romance started during the shooting of Swadesh in 2004. At that time I was shooting for Swadesh and he was shooting for Mangal Pandey.
Aamir and Kiran met on the sets of the film ‘Lagaan’.
Kiran said, ‘Aamir is not very filmy. We had many things in common, so we had a lot to talk about. Despite being a star, he lived like a common man. He remained completely normal even during the shooting. Looking at him it seemed as if he was a member of the crew.
Kiran said, ‘I knew him (Aamir) well, so I never felt the pressure of his stardom. He knew how I was, so it was up to him to understand me too. I guess they didn’t expect me to behave a certain way, so there was no problem.
Even after divorce, the couple co-parents their 12-year-old son Azad.
According to Kiran, at that time she did not have as many clothes as a public figure should have. So when they started dating, she had to quickly change her wardrobe. Although she was interested in fashion, she did not have enough money to experiment much, so she used to shop from cheap brands or street markets.
Aamir-Kiran’s relationship lasted for 16 years Aamir and Kiran met 24 years ago during the shooting of the film ‘Lagaan’. Kiran was the assistant director of this film. But the love between the two started during the shooting of the film Swadesh. Both of them got married in December 2005. After 16 years, the couple confirmed their divorce in July 2021.
