New Delhi. Amitabh Bachchan entered the world of acting with the film ‘Saat Hindustani’. But this film proved to be a super flop of his career. After this, he did ‘Reshma Aur Shera’ (1972) in which his role was that of a dumb person and this film was also a flop, but after ‘Anand’ released in 1971, he definitely got recognition. Even after this, he had dozens of flop films.

Amitabh Bachchan was also seen in the 1975 blockbuster film ‘Sholay’. But he got the job in this film only after his role in the film ‘Bombay to Goa’. Veteran actors like Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri, Sanjeev Kumar, Jagdeep, Asrani, Sachin, AK Hangal, Helen and Amjad Khan were seen in Sholay. Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy, had created such a record at the box office, which no one could break for years.

When Big B asked him about casting himself for the role of Jai-Veeru, he said that Salim-Javed told me to try Amitji. He has done an excellent job in Zanjeer. And in Bombay to Goa, despite being tall, he did a tremendous dance in the bus. Amitabh was cast in Sholay on the same basis.

Sholay, released in the year 1975, was such a film whose record could not be broken by any film for 20 years. But then when the film became public, it broke all records. The film had earned Rs 35 crore during that period.

Let us tell you that Sholay was a multi-starrer film. In which many stalwarts including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar played important roles. Made with a budget of Rs 3 crore, Sholay created a stir at the box office with a collection of Rs 35 crore.
