On Thursday, a day before the release of the film, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis attended the special screening of the film. CM has appealed to the people to watch the film. During this time Kangana was also present with him.

SGPC demands ban of the film in Punjab

Meanwhile, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has demanded a ban on the film in Punjab a day before its release. SGPC on Thursday wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann demanding a ban on Kangana Ranaut’s film. Demanding a ban, SGPC said that the image of Sikhs has been presented in a bad light in the film Emergency and history has also been tampered with in the film.

It is the responsibility of the government to ban the film- Dhami

SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami expressed strong objection to Ranot’s film. Dhami said that if the film is released in Punjab, it will spread a lot of anger and resentment among the Sikh community. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government to ban its release in the state.

Not only this, the Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee has also accused the film of tampering with history. SGPC has condemned the character assassination of Khalistani Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was killed in a military operation in 1984. Dhami said, ‘If the film Emergency is released in Punjab, we will be forced to strongly oppose it at the state level.’

Kangana is MP from Mandi seat of Himachal

Kangana Ranaut had contested the Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal on a BJP ticket in the elections held last year. He had defeated Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, son of former Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh.

The film Emergency will be released on January 17.

Kangana’s film Emergency is based on the 21-month period from 1975 to 1977. When former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had declared emergency in the entire country citing threats in the country. The film will be released in theaters on January 17.
