The film Pushpa 2: The Rule, released on December 5, is continuously breaking big records at the box office. While its previous film Pushpa: The Rise had made a worldwide collection of Rs 373 crore, its sequel film Pushpa 2 has become the 6th highest grossing Telugu film in just three days. It is being speculated that this film can become the highest grossing film of Telugu and Hindi cinema. However, very few people know that before Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu was the makers’ first choice to play the role of Pushpa. He had also signed this film, but later he rejected it. At the same time, actors like R. Madhavan and Vikram could also be a part of the film.

In the year 2018, Mahesh Babu was shooting for the film Maharishi (2019), after which he was about to start shooting for Pushpa. In April 2018, Mythri Movie Makers Production announced the second film SSMB26 with directors Sukumar and Mahesh Babu. The shooting of this film was scheduled to start from January 2019, but just before that, Mahesh Babu left both Sukumar’s films citing creative differences and signed Sarileru Neekevaaru.
After Mahesh Babu left the film, Sukumar had offered the film to Allu Arjun. Before this, Allu Arjun had worked in Sukumar’s film Arya 2.

Malayalam actor Fahadh Fazil has played the negative role in Pushpa. However, this role was first given to actor Jisshu Sengupta. He had also signed the film, however due to Covid 19 he rejected the film.
Vijay Sethupathi was finalized in the film after Jisshu Sengupta. It was also announced in January 2020, however, in July 2020, Vijay Sethupathi left the film due to his busy schedule. After this, Vikram, Bobby Simha, R. Names of actors like Madhavan and Arya were also considered, but ultimately Fahadh Fazil was finalized for the film.
