Recently, the Kerala government has released the 295-page report of Justice K. Hema Commission. This report mentions serious issues like casting couch and sexual harassment going on in the Malayalam film industry.
Meanwhile, South actress and ex Bigg Boss Tamil contestant Sanam Shetty has said that casting couch also happens in the Tamil film industry.
On Tuesday, the actress was reacting to the Justice Hema Committee report outside the Chennai Police Commissioner’s Office. During this, she claimed that not only women but also men are sexually exploited in the Tamil film industry.
Sanam gave this statement while talking to the media.
She had come to ask for permission to hold a rally
Sanam had reached the Commissioner’s Office to seek permission to organize a rally against the Kolkata rape and murder case. Speaking to the media there, she said, ‘I don’t know the details of the Hema Committee report but I welcome this step.
I would like to thank Justice and the Kerala Government for bringing out such a report and listing all the issues of exploitation of women in the Malayalam film industry.
Compromise is not the only way to get a job
Sanam further said, ‘However, such incidents happen not only in Malayalam but also in Tamil film industry. I am speaking from my experience that adjusting or compromising is not the only way to get work. Wait, if you have confidence in yourself, you will get work without compromising.’
Men are also sexually abused
The actress said that not only women but men are also sexually exploited in the industry. She wants that whoever has been subjected to this should raise their voice. Finally Sanam said that not everyone in the industry is bad. There are some good people too.
Sanam has worked in about 20 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. Apart from this, she was also seen in the fourth season of the show ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ hosted by superstar Kamal Haasan.
