In his reply he wrote, (translated) “You are right Sushant, we have a long way to go. When I joined the company in 1991, the economy had just opened up. A global consultancy firm advised us to exit the car business. Advised because in their view we had no chance to compete with the foreign brands that had entered it. Three decades later, we are still around and competing fiercely.”
