New Delhi: Today is the 100th birth anniversary of Prithviraj Kapoor’s eldest son Raj Kapoor on 14th December. The audience remembers him because of great films like ‘Awara’, ‘Shree 420’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the ‘Great Showman’ of Indian cinema Raj Kapoor. Praising his contribution on his 100th birth anniversary, he said, ‘He took Indian cinema to the global stage.’ Prime Minister Modi made a post on the social media platform X, which reads, ‘Today we are celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the great filmmaker, visionary filmmaker, actor and evergreen showman Raj Kapoor. His talent has influenced many generations and has left an indelible mark on Indian and global cinema.

PM Narendra Modi wrote in the second post, ‘The popular characters and unforgettable tunes of Raj Kapoor’s films are liked by the audience all over the world. People praise his films for how they highlight different subjects with ease. The music of his films is also very popular. He further wrote, ‘Raj Kapoor was not just a filmmaker, but a cultural ambassador who took Indian cinema to the global platform. Many generations of filmmakers and actors can learn a lot from him. I once again pay tribute to him and remember his contribution to the creative world.

Kapoor family had recently met PM Modi. He had invited PM Modi to the festival organized on the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor. During this, Raj Kapoor’s daughter Reema Jain said to PM Modi, ‘Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi..’, as soon as he said this, the PM interrupted and said, ‘Cut’, due to which the atmosphere in the room became pleasant. During this meeting, PM Modi had mentioned the contribution of Raj Kapoor. He had said that Raj Kapoor was far ahead of his time, through his stories he established India as a ‘soft power’ among people around the world.
