Maruti Suzuki India’s parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled its first electric car in the global market at the EICMA-2024 motor show which started today (October 4) in Milan, Italy. This mid-size electric SUV named e-Vitara is the production version of EVX, which was first introduced at Auto Expo-2023.
The car will be presented in India at the Global Mobility Show-2025. The production of this electric SUV will start from February 2025 at the plant of Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited. It is expected to be available for sale in Europe, Japan and India by June. The company claims that the car will run up to 400 kilometers once fully charged.
Price can start from Rs 20 lakh The company has not disclosed the price of the car. Maruti E Vitara price in India could start at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model with the 49kWh battery pack. At the same time, the price of the model with 61kWh battery pack with high-powered motor can go up to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Apart from this, the price of e-Allgrip AWD version can be around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, the e Vitara electric SUV will compete with MG ZS EV, Tata Curve EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE05.
Exterior: Y-shaped with LED DRL Suzuki E Vitara has been developed on the new Heartect-E platform, which the company has developed in collaboration with Toyota. The exterior design of Suzuki E Vitara is similar to the EVX concept model. Its front has thin LED headlights and integrated fog lights with Y-shaped LED DRL and stylish bumper.
The mid-size SUV looks quite muscular from the side with body cladding and 19-inch black wheels. The door handle on the rear gate is placed on the C-pillar. Apart from this, there is also an electric sunroof on the roof. Like the concept version, the rear of the E Vitara has a connected LED tail light with a 3-piece lighting element.
Cabin: 6 airbags standard and electronic parking brake can be found The E Vitara has a dual-tone black and orange cabin. It has a 2-spoke flat bottom steering wheel and chrome touches around the vertically oriented AC vents. The major highlight of its cabin is the integrated floating screen setup, in which one is infotainment and the other is driver display.
Suzuki has not disclosed the features of E Vitara, but it is expected that features like automatic AC, ventilated front seats and wireless phone charger can be provided in Maruti’s electric car. At the same time, for safety, it can be provided with safety features like 6 airbags standard, 360 degree camera and electronic parking brake.
Battery pack and range In the European market, E Vitara has been introduced with two battery pack options. This includes battery pack options of 49kWh and 61kWh. The company has not yet revealed the certified range of E Vitara, but it is expected that its range on full charge can be up to 400 kilometers. The car will also be given the option of 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive.
