Maruti Suzuki has today (12 September) launched the CNG version of its most popular car Swift in India. The company launched its fourth generation model in the Indian market in May this year. Apart from mechanical updates, no changes have been made in Swift S-CNG.

The company claims that the new Swift will give a mileage of 32.85km in the CNG version. The car gives a mileage of 24.8kmpl with MT transmission in petrol version and 25.7kmpl with automatic transmission (AMT). This is the most fuel efficient hatchback car in India.

The new gen Swift will get features like wireless charger, multi information screen and for safety, all variants will get features like 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold control and three-point seatbelts. In India, it competes with Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.

The CNG version is Rs 90,000 more expensive than the petrol version The new Swift S-CNG has been launched in three variants. Its price starts from Rs 8.20 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.20 lakh. Its petrol version comes with 6 variants and two transmission options, priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.64 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. Only manual transmission option is available in the CNG version. The price of Swift’s CNG variants is Rs 90,000 more than the petrol manual variants.

New generation Swift will be available in 9 color options The car comes with 6 mono-tone and three dual-tone color options. These include Sizzling Red, Luster Blue, Novel Orange, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver and Pearl Arctic White mono-tone colors. In dual tone, Swift will get Sizzling Red with Midnight Black Roof, Luster Blue with Midnight Black Roof and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black Roof. Novel Orange and Luster Blue are new colors.

New Z-series petrol engine will be available The hatchback gets a Z-series 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which generates 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque. For transmission, the new Swift has the option of a 5-speed manual and automatic (AMT) gearbox with the engine.

Whereas, in the CNG version, this engine generates 69.75hp of power and 101.8Nm of torque. It has only a 5-speed manual transmission. The power of the CNG model of the new Swift has decreased. The previous generation model generated 77hp of power, however the torque of the new model is higher.

The new Swift does not have a twin-cylinder setup like the Hyundai and Tata CNG models. It gets a large cylinder in the boot space as before. For emissions, Maruti says that the CO2 level of the new Swift CNG is 6% lower than the previous car.

Next Generation Swift: Exterior Design Talking about the design, it retains its old look, but many new design elements are visible on closer inspection. Its front has sharp looking headlamps with projector setup, which have inbuilt LED daytime running lamps. Between the two headlamps, there is a redesigned honeycomb pattern black grill with dark chrome finish.

The company’s logo is now placed above the grille and just below the bonnet. Some changes have also been made to the front bumper and the front fog lamps get a separate housing and look much cleaner than before. There is no change in the side profile except for the 15-inch alloy wheels. The taillights have been changed at the rear. Now they are smaller and sportier than before. S-CNG bedding has been given on the tailgate.

The new Swift is 15mm longer, 40mm narrower and 30mm taller than the current model, but the wheelbase is the same as the current model with 2,450mm. The company is calling it the fourth generation model, while the new-gen Swift is based on the same Heartect platform.

Next Generation Swift: Interior The new generation Swift gets a black and white dual-tone theme dashboard layout, which is inspired by the Fords, Baleno and Brezza. It gets a new dashboard layout with a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, sleek AC vents and HVAC controls below.

Apart from this, the car gets wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, connected car technology, more than 40 connected car features, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering wheel mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-button start, rear parking camera with sensors and much more.
