American technology company Microsoft plans to invest $3 billion in the next two years in cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and skilling in India. The company also plans to build new data centers. In the next five years, Microsoft will train about one crore people in AI skills.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Satya Nadella, said at the Microsoft AI Tour in Bengaluru, “I am really excited to announce our largest expansion in India. The company has trained 24 lakh people for this program before the stipulated period. About 65 percent of the participants in this training were women and about 74 percent of the participants were from tier two and three cities.

Accenture, one of the big IT companies, has also planned to do a large number of technology related hiring in the country. Out of approximately 7.7 lakh international workers of this company, more than three lakh are Indians. Recently, Julie Sweet, Chief Executive Officer of Accenture, said, “We are hiring primarily in India. There is really no change in our hiring strategy.” He had said that Accenture is strengthening its position in Generative AI.
