Mobile Often such fears and misconceptions are spread about the phone that its use causes cancer. But is this scientifically correct?
Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) has released a report on this. In this review report, many studies conducted across the world have been reviewed to know the relationship between mobile phones and cancer. According to the report-
- Using mobile phone does not cause brain cancer.
- Use of mobile phone does not cause any cancer in the head, throat or anywhere in the body.
- Cancer has no direct connection with mobile phones.
- If there is already cancer or tumor then it does not make any difference.
This review was conducted under the leadership of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA). It included more than 5,000 studies from all over the world. They were evaluated and sorted on many scientific aspects and finally only 63 most accurate studies published between 1994 and 2022 were reviewed. After studying and reviewing all these studies in detail, scientists came to the conclusion that using a mobile phone does not cause any kind of cancer or tumor.
This review was necessary because many myths are being presented as truth in the name of science all over the world. One of the biggest myths among these was that radio waves emitted from mobile phones cause brain, head and throat cancer.
It is certain that mobile phones do not cause cancer, but does this mean that using a mobile phone is completely safe? Can it be used for as long as one wants? This is not the case at all. There are many disadvantages of using a mobile phone for a long time. It reduces focus. Attention span reduces. It has a bad effect on the health of the eyes.
so today ‘health report‘ We will know what kind of harm is caused by using a mobile phone. Also, we will know that-
- What are the effects of excessive use of mobile phones on health?
- Why are people going back to basic keypad phones?
70% of people in the world are using smartphones
The world’s first smartphone came into the market in 1994 and in just a few years it became the most important part of people’s lives. According to a report published on Statista, about 70% of the world’s population is using a smartphone. Without it, people feel helpless. The use of mobile phones is increasing rapidly among people of all ages. As a result, its side effects are also being seen. Know about the harm caused by excessive use of mobile phones through the graphic given below.
Understand the points given in the graphic in detail.
Sleep is affected
According to a study by the American National Sleep Foundation, using mobile phones or other gadgets affects sleep. In the presence of light emitted from mobile phones and laptops till late night, our body is unable to release melatonin, the hormone necessary for sleep, or its quantity is less than required. In such a situation, even if we get sleep, it is not that deep.
Due to this, cognitive function deteriorates, immunity weakens and the risk of heart disease increases.
There is stress on the eyes
Using a mobile phone for a long time can increase eye strain. The small text and bright screen of a mobile phone force the eyes to work harder. This can cause dry eyes, blurred vision and headaches. This can affect eyesight.
Stress level increases
Constantly looking at the mobile phone screen can increase the stress level. This can increase anxiety. Also, tension in the eyes and neck muscles can increase.
Addiction and dependency increases
People are getting addicted to mobile phones. Some people even take their mobile phones with them to the toilet. The new word for this is ‘nomophobia’. It means feeling nervous without a mobile phone. Apart from this, people are becoming dependent on mobile phones for every small and big work. This is destroying the habit of hard work.
Attention span is decreasing
Due to the excessive use of mobile phones, people’s attention span is decreasing. This means how long a person can continuously focus on a task without getting distracted. According to a study by the University of California Irvine, the average attention span of humans has decreased from 2.5 minutes to 47 seconds in the last 20 years.
Focus is diminishing
In a way, the whole world is imprisoned in a smartphone. People keep wandering from one app to another every minute. They keep scrolling reels every 30 seconds. The effect of this is that people are losing concentration.
my capacity for patience is dwindling
In today’s time, mobile phones are nothing less than magic. Earlier, if people did not know the meaning of a word, they would get entangled with the dictionary for a long time. To play a favourite song, they would first search for a cassette, then rewind the tape recorder and start it. Even if the cassette was at home, it would still take at least 5 minutes. Now all this is done in a few seconds. As a result, people are losing their patience.
children’s development is being affected
In particular, the use of mobile phones is having a negative impact on the mental and physical development of young children. Children are sensitive. Excessive screen time is hindering their cognitive and emotional development. This is causing attention span problems, delay in language skills and behavior-related problems. Instead of playing outside in the field, children are playing games on smartphones or watching videos for entertainment. This is also affecting their physical growth.
The average person in India uses the phone for 4 hours
According to a report by international digital data firm ‘Data Reportal’, an average person in India spends 4 hours and 3 minutes using a mobile phone. The average time in the world in this regard is 3 hours and 15 minutes. Indians spend about 50 minutes more using their phones than this. People in Japan use their phones for less than 2 hours on an average in the whole day.
What is the position of China, Russia and US in this matter, see in the graphic.
People are returning to basic phones
According to the data of Consumer Electronics Cell, there has been a decline in the sale of smartphones for the last few years. This decline is expected to increase further. One reason for this is that the new generation has again started buying basic phones. Many scientists of the world have also pointed out earlier that if people become dependent on the phone instead of using their brain, then the functioning of the brain will start becoming weak and limited in evolution. We need to understand that the human brain is much faster and powerful than the smartphone.
