Malayalam actor and MLA Mukesh (Mukesh Madhavan) has broken his silence for the first time on the allegations of sexual harassment against him. He says that the allegations made by Meenu Munir and other actresses are false. He has not exploited Meenu Munir, rather the actress was blackmailing him.
Mukesh shared a post on Facebook and wrote, ‘The truth needs to come out. I will face it legally. I want the allegations against me and other filmmakers to be investigated.’
Mukesh said- Meenu herself came to meet me
Meenu Muneer had recently said in an interview that when she sought help from Mukesh to join the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), the actor demanded sexual favours from her.
Calling this a lie, Mukesh said, ‘The same political drama took place in 2018 in which the same allegations were made. In 2009, Meenu herself met me with her photo album. She had described herself as a cinema aspirant.
Usually when someone asks me for help, I say that I will try my best to help. Later he also sent a thank you message for my nature. During the meeting, he did not find any fault in my behavior.
‘I was constantly asked for money, now I cannot succumb to the blackmail conspiracy’
Mukesh told that in 2022, Meenu contacted him and asked for financial support on a large scale, but the actor was not able to help at that time. He said, ‘Meenu sent a WhatsApp message demanding at least Rs 11 lakh.
A few days later, a message came from another number from a man who claimed to be Meenu’s husband and demanded a huge amount of money. This gang was constantly blackmailing me for money. Now when they got a chance, they turned against me.
I am making this disclosure on the basis of the messages sent by those people. I am not one of those who plot to harm someone’s personality and reputation. But I am also not ready to succumb to the conspiracy of blackmail.
Malayalam Movie Artistes Association dissolved after sexual harassment allegations
The Malayalam Movie Artists Association (AMMA) was dissolved on Tuesday, August 27, following allegations of sexual harassment. This led to the resignation of 17 members, including AMMA president and South superstar Mohanlal.
A complaint of sexual harassment was made against three members of AMMA. A case has been registered against two of these members. The decision to dissolve the association was taken after the Hema Committee report came out.
Actually, there have been allegations of sexual exploitation of female artists in the Malayalam film industry for the last several years. To investigate this, a 3-member committee was formed in 2019 under the chairmanship of retired Justice Hema. After 4 years, on August 19, the Hema Committee submitted a 233-page report to the Kerala government, in which it came to light that many big artists had committed exploitation.
