New DelhiSanjay Leela Bhansali is famous for his grand sets, heavy costumes and larger than life films. There is no other filmmaker in Bollywood who can compete with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films in terms of sets, costumes and cinematography. These days, this veteran director is in the headlines for his upcoming film ‘Love and War’. Bhansali believes that the Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer film is going to be completely different from the films made till now.

In an interview given to The Hollywood Reporter India, the director spoke openly about the upcoming film ‘Love and War’ as well as his image as a strict director. He told why it is sometimes difficult for actors to work with him. He says, ‘My mind remains very restless while making a film. Sometimes I myself do not understand what I want, due to which people find it difficult to work with me.

He further said, ‘Sometimes I am on the set but my mind is somewhere else. Sometimes the scene is not right, it is not that all this happens only because of me. The 150 people working with me don’t understand what I want from the scene. I forgive them for not understanding my vision. Sometimes he tolerates me because of my restlessness and repeatedly shooting scenes.

Want to make a film like Raj Kapoor
Sanjay Leela Bhansali believes that whenever he makes a film, he thinks that he wants to make a film like Raj Kapoor. He says that he feels that whenever he sits on the director’s chair, he feels that Raj Kapoor is sitting behind him and guiding him.

There is no period setting in ‘Love and War’
Talking about Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Love and War’, he says that this film is not at all a remake of ‘Sangam’ and it will be completely different from it. He says, ‘If you should not make a remake of ‘Sholay’ or ‘Mother India’, then why would I make a remake of ‘Sangam’?’ The filmmaker revealed that Love and War is very special for him and it is not at all like his previous films. There is no period setting, heavy costumes and grand sets in it. ‘Love and War’ is a contemporary film, its songs are also of a completely different type.
