In the year 2009, he surprised the audience by bringing a powerful film like ‘Paa’ with Amitabh and Abhishek. Recently he has discussed the story of films and the hit formula of films in Bollywood. It was also revealed that today’s films have become boring.

R Balki has till now brought films like ‘Paa’, ‘Padman’, ‘Cheeni Kum’. While watching his films, questions definitely arise in the minds of the audience. Balki recently said that some of the blockbuster films made in the last few years have actually been very bad films not only from the intellectual point of view but also from the entertainment point of view. All I am saying is that not only in terms of intellectual or unique entertainment, it has also been very boring in terms of ‘masala, paisa wasool’.

The fun is over with blockbuster movies
Comparing the films of his time with the films of respected director Manmohan Desai, Balki said in an interview to IANS, ‘If you watch Manmohan Desai’s films… if you see Amit ji’s (Amitabh Bachchan) character in those films, you will understand that I am Manmohan Desai. Was watching Desai’s films like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Naseeb’. They were so much fun. Now the fun from blockbuster films has completely gone.

Earnings became the entertainment of the film
Putting forward his point, he further said, ‘There is neither any entertainment angle nor any theme in these films, yet these films have been successful in earning huge money at the box office. Now these films have become like projects. There is an economics associated with it. Through marketing, people are made to believe that it is good, by the time people think that it is a bad film, the film has already made money.

Let us tell you that while expressing his views, he said that sometimes people are not ready to accept that it is bad. They don’t want to criticize a movie after watching it… they want to find one or two good things to like about the movie. Even if he likes something in films, he just finds those things to praise. Actually, I don’t want to curse myself after spending Rs 500 and watching a movie.
