OnePlus will hold a launch event in China on June 27 to introduce several devices. These include a smartphone OnePlus Ace 3 Pro and OnePlus Pad Pro tablet. Both devices are expected to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Along with these devices, the brand will also introduce OnePlus Buds 3 TWS earbuds and a new smartwatch. The watch will have OnePlus Watch 2 branding in China, but rumors suggest that its global version could be called OnePlus Watch 3. A new leak has revealed that the device will be a part of the existing OnePlus Watch 2 series for the global market.

Max Jambor recently wrote a Tweet OnePlus has revealed the name OnePlus Watch 2R in its leaked leak. However, he did not share anything else about the device. Most likely, this could be the name of the global version of the upcoming OnePlus smartwatch.

Earlier this year, OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus Watch 2 in the global market, but it was not introduced for China. Now that it has not even been six months since the Watch 2 was launched, the next watch is unlikely to be branded as OnePlus Watch 3. To be clear, the next smartwatch may be branded as OnePlus Watch 2R globally, while in China it could be called OnePlus Watch 2. The TENAA listing of the device in China revealed that it will have a 500mAh battery and support LTE connectivity. However, nothing else is known about other specifications.

The model number of OnePlus Watch 2 is OPWWE231, while the model number of the upcoming smartwatch is OPWWE234. This again suggests that the upcoming OPWWE234 could be a new variant of the OnePlus Watch 2. OnePlus usually uses the letter “R” to denote an affordable offering of its flagship product. For example, the OnePlus 12 has an affordable model called OnePlus 12R. Similarly, the upcoming OnePlus Watch 2R could be a toned-down version of the Watch 2.
