Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro of OnePlus, one of the big smartphone companies, can be launched soon. OnePlus’s Ace series smartphones have not been launched outside China. The upcoming smartphones can also be launched in China only. OnePlus Ace 5 can have the existing chipset, while Ace 5 Pro can be given Qualcomm’s upcoming chipset.

This chipset has also been used in Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra and some other smartphones. The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can be given in Ace 5 Pro. Earlier, some leaks had told that OnePlus Ace 5 can have a 6.78 inch 1.5K LTPO display. It can have a triple rear camera unit with a 50 megapixel primary camera. This smartphone can have a 6,200 mAh dual-cell battery with support for 100 W wired fast charging.

In the first half of the current year, smartphone shipments grew by 7.2 percent year-on-year to around 6.9 crore units. In the second quarter, smartphone shipments grew by about 3.2 percent to around 3.5 crore units. According to a report by market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), many new smartphones have been launched in the second quarter. Most of these were in the mid-premium and premium segments. However, shipments of entry-level smartphones (priced less than Rs 8,400) declined by 36 percent year-on-year in the second quarter. The market share of this segment has come down to around 14 percent from 22 percent in the same quarter last year. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has the highest share in this segment. It is followed by Poco and Realme.

Shipments in the budget segment of smartphones (priced around Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800) have grown by about 8 percent on a year-on-year basis. Xiaomi is also leading in this segment. It is followed by China’s Realme and Vivo. The entry-premium segment (priced around Rs 16,800 to Rs 33,500) has seen the highest growth of 42 percent. Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is leading in this. It is followed by Vivo and Samsung.
