Payal Kapadia received a major setback in the BAFTA Awards 2025.

New Delhi. The film All We Imagine Az Light, directed by Payal Kapadia, had a big shock in the Golden Globe and now missed the film Award at the Bafa Awards. Payal Kapadia’s film faced defeat at the hands of Friends. Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam starrer film was highly appreciated by critics. The All V Imagine Az Light was nominated in the Best Film in English Language in BAFTA, but lost to the Spanish-language French crime-musical “Emilia Perez”.

Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Perez” won the award at the Best Non English Language category at the 78th BAFTA Awards. Payal Kapadia’s film has suffered a second major setback after facing defeat at the 82th Golden Globe Awards. This year, no Indian film has won the BAFTA Awards.

Let me tell you, Carla Sophia Gaccon, the lead actress of ‘Emilia Perease’, was surrounded by controversies over some of her old tweets. The actress’s tweets were seen as Islamophobic and racist, which was also very condemned on social media. The second lead of the film Joe Saladana won the BAFTA Award in the Supporting Actress category. The French film ‘Emilia Pereze’, directed by Jacques Audiyard, is based on four women from Mexico, who find her own happiness.
