FaridabadAli Khan’s journey is no less than a film story. Ali Khan, who belongs to Gaya district of Bihar, reached Mumbai in 1980. His dream was to make his mark on the big screen, but this path was not easy. He was studying for advocacy, but his mind was engaged in the world of cinema.

There was a lot of conflict in Mumbai in the early days. Step into the film industry was nothing short of a challenge. Ali Khan, who was wandering in search of work, saw a ray of hope when veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha was making a film ‘Kalka’. Shatrughan Sinha’s maternal uncle recommended him and Ali Khan got an important character called Gopi in the film, which led to the film. However, the film did not work much at the box office, but Ali Khan definitely started getting recognition.

After this, he worked in films like ‘Hurricane’ and ‘Allah Rakh’, but he got the real identity from the 1992 film ‘Khuda Witness’. The film was shot in Afghanistan and had superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi. In this film, his powerful character caught the attention of the audience and his identity in Bollywood was strengthened. After this, he started getting offers from films constantly. He played important roles in films like ‘Sarfarosh’, ‘Koharam’, ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ and ‘Alibaba Chalis Chor’.

Apart from films, Ali Khan also made his mark in the TV world. He played the role of Yaksha in the ‘Mahabharata’ serial and also played an important role in a popular serial like ‘Kumkum’. ‘Kumkum’ was a superhit show of that era, which made him famous from house to house.

Steps in Bhojpuri cinema too
Ali Khan worked not only in Hindi, but also in Bhojpuri cinema. He acted in two Bhojpuri films with Manoj Tiwari’s film ‘Bhojpuria Don’ and Pawan Singh. In the recently released ‘Gadar 2’, he also appeared in a small but influential character.

Award and honor
The result of his hard work and dedication was that in 2017 he received the Tiifa Award as a legend actor. In 2018, he was awarded the AIAC Award for personal achievements and contribution to nation building. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Film Yatra Award.
