Menstrual history- Get complete information about date and frequency of periods.
Blood test- To know the amount of male hormone present in the body.
Lower abdominal scan- This finally confirms the presence of PCOS.
Caution- Dr. Shilpa Tiwari says that many times 18-19 year old girls come to her complaining of PCOS. They have an ultrasound of the ovaries, in which the ovaries do not appear to be fully developed. The reason for this is that the ovaries are still in the development stage. Hormonal changes are happening right now and the body is adjusting accordingly. One should not rush to diagnose PCOS at such a young age.
