This state of self-compassion and positive self-image is also beneficial for mental-physical well-being and all types of relationships.

Christopher Aby, author of ‘How to Feel Good About Yourself’, suggests these tips to improve self-image:

  • Positive thinking- Think as positively as possible about yourself and focus on your strengths. Don’t think about what you can’t do. Instead, focus on doing the things you can.
  • Be your own critic- Many people in the world can have many different opinions about us. It is not possible for everyone’s opinion to be the same or according to your wishes. In such a situation, it is better to become your own critic. In such a situation, you get self-confidence and the right direction to move forward.
  • Be aware of your needs- To create a positive self image, it is important to take care of your physical and mental health. Do the things that are necessary for your body and mind.
  • Stay in positive relationships- As far as possible, keep distance from negative environment and people. Negative environment and thinking also affect our thinking over time. Then after some time, we ourselves start thinking negatively about ourselves and our abilities and underestimate ourselves.
  • It is important to forgive yourself and move on- Sometimes it happens that we carry the burden of our mistakes throughout our lives. Under the burden of that mistake, we take our future in the wrong direction. To avoid such a situation, it becomes necessary to evaluate yourself, identify your mistakes on that basis and then correct the mistakes and move on.

Keep in mind, positive self image does not mean narcissism

It is important to note here that a positive self-image should never reach the level of narcissism. When a person becomes adamant about his image and behavior, he stops seeing his mistakes.

He is unable to improve himself even if he wants to. His thinking towards the world becomes negative. In such a situation, narcissism starts taking root in the nature of that person. Unlike a positive self image, narcissism has a negative impact on relationships, career and mental-physical well-being.
