Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was born in Pakistan Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was born on 9 December 1974 in Faisalabad, Pakistan. The tradition of Qawwali has been going on in his family from generation to generation. His father Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and grandfather Fateh Ali Khan were famous Qawwals, but his uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan earned the most fame and is also called the King of Qawwali.

T-Series also removed Rahat’s song According to a tweet by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, his song ‘Zindagi’ was to be released on the T-Series platform on February 15, 2019. According to media reports, the song was released, but it was removed from the platform after protests by Raj Thackeray’s party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). However, later T-Series re-released the song ‘Zindagi’. This song is still available on YouTube.
Rahat’s ‘Zaroori Tha’ song broke records on YouTube The song Zaroor Tha was released in 2014 by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for the album Back to Love. The song crossed 100 million views on YouTube after two years and touched the 200 million views mark within three years of its release. Now this song has reached one billion views.
Controversy of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan As much as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan remains in the headlines for his songs, he has also been closely associated with controversies.
1. Smuggling of foreign currency In 2019, Rahat was accused of smuggling foreign currency, after which the ED sent a notice to Rahat under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) seeking his reply. Rahat was accused of illegally earning US$3,40,000. Out of this he smuggled $2,25,000.
2. Beating of disciple In the beginning of the year 2024, a video of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan went viral, in which he was seen beating a man with shoes and slippers. Rahat was asking him about a bottle and the man was saying that he did not know where the bottle was.

After this video went viral, Rahat gave clarification on the entire matter by sharing a video on social media. He had said that this is a matter between a master and a disciple. The person seen in the video, Naveed Hasnain, is his disciple. While apologizing to Naveed, he had told that that bottle was special for him because it contained water prepared by Peer Saheb.
Rahat had also given his clarification in this matter on the podcast of YouTuber Adil Asif.
3. Called himself the heir of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (uncle) In 2018, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s daughter had said that she wanted to take legal action against the singers singing her father’s songs for copyright infringement. To this Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had replied that he is the successor of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and he does not need anyone’s permission to sing her songs.
4. Accusation of marrying secretly In the year 2013, it was reported that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had secretly married his girlfriend and model Falak and for this he divorced his first wife Nida Rahat. However, Rahat termed this news as a rumour. He said that he neither knows nor has ever met any model named Falak. This false news has been spread with the aim of tarnishing his image. Rahat also said that he thanks his wife, who understood this rumor and did not take it seriously. Rahat and Nida were married in 2001.
