Hirani discusses PK in Komal Nahata’s podcast

New Delhi: The first episode of the film trade analyst Komal Nahata’s podcast ‘Game Changers’ has been released, which was released by Rajkumar Hirani, the most prestigious filmmaker of Indian cinema. In this impeccable conversation, Hirani spoke openly about his creative process and the challenges, which he has made films that the audience seems to be fresh even after years.

When Nahata asked him about the pressure to maintain new and unique ideas for films, Hirani remembered his blockbuster film PK’s journey. He said, ‘Yes, we remember when we wrote PK, we are very happy that we have written a unique idea, which was not elsewhere.’ However, soon this happiness turned into anxiety, when someone told them that the story of this film has already been written. Hirani said, ‘Someone told us that this film has already been written. When we went and saw that, we were surprised. If we had made it, people would say that we have copied it, so we started worrying.

After this, the film’s team continued to struggle with this dilemma and could not decide for about a month what to do next. But then, suddenly a big idea came out. Hirani said, ‘One day Abhijat (Joshi) came and said that we show it in such a way that he is looking for God and when he does not get it, he makes a court case. I said, ‘This is interesting, let’s develop it more.’

However, even after facing this challenge, the difficulties did not end. When the script of the film was getting ready, Hirani and his team came to know that OMG..Oh My God! A film named is also made on this theme. He further said, “Then we also had to give up this idea,” that it proves that the creative process of film production continues to change and develop. Through ‘Game Changers’, Komal Nahata is going to set new dimensions of interaction and analysis in Indian cinema.
