The cases of sexual harassment and exploitation coming to light from the Malayalam film industry are not stopping. Recently, many actresses have accused senior artists of Malayalam cinema of harassment. Meanwhile, actress Revathi Sampat has filed a rape case against senior Malayalam actor Siddiqui. The police have registered a case under non-bailable offence sections and started investigation.

On Tuesday, actress Revathi Sampat filed a complaint against actor Siddiqui at Trivandrum Police Station. This case will be investigated by SIT (Special Investigation Team), which has been formed to investigate cases of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry.

Actress Revathi Sampat has stated in her complaint that 8 years ago in 2016, Siddiqui had called her to Muscat Hotel for talks regarding a film, where she was physically exploited.

Actor Siddiqui alleges – there is a conspiracy to defame

Let us tell you that shortly before filing the written complaint, Revathi Sampat had accused Siddiqui of physical abuse. After Revathi’s allegations, Siddiqui filed a complaint with the Director General of Police, saying that serious allegations are being made against him to tarnish his image. He had said in the complaint that he had met Revathi Sampat in the presence of her parents in the year 2016.

Let us tell you that senior actor Siddiqui was the general secretary of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). In 2019, the Hema Committee was formed for female artists in Malayalam cinema. On August 19, the Hema Committee submitted a 233-page report to the Kerala government, which recorded harassment by many big artists. After the report came out, senior actor Siddiqui held a press conference and rejected the claims made in the reports. However, only after this, actress Revathi Sampat accused him of sexual harassment, after which he resigned from the post of General Secretary of AMMA.
