This film, made under the direction of Vikram Bhatt, also had three other co-producers, who are nowhere to be seen now. In this, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu were in lead and important roles. Despite having a big name like Amitabh, the film did not work.
The name of this film starring John Abraham, Bipasha Basu and Amitabh Bachchan is ‘Aitbar’. This was a romantic psychological thriller film. Ratan Tata tried his luck with this film. Amitabh was already a big star and the John-Bipasha duo was making waves at the box office at that time. Despite doing all the math, Ratan Tata invested the money.
‘Aitbar’ proved to be a flop at the box office.
Ratan Tata’s luck did not favor him here. ‘Aitbar’ was made with a budget of Rs 9.50 crore. It could earn only Rs 4.25 crore at the box office. It collected Rs 7.96 crore worldwide. The film could not even recover its budget and Ratan Tata suffered a loss of more than Rs 2.5 crore.
Ratan Tata never invested money in films after this. He did not become a producer. Talking about the story of the film, it was the story of a crazy lover, who is after a girl and her father adopts all the tricks to save the girl from that crazy lover.
