Mumbai. Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta, who has worked with many Bollywood actors including Chunky Pandey, Mithun Chakraborty, Ritesh Deshmukh and Sunny Deol, reached RG Kar Medical College. The actress had reached there in support of the protest going on there. But she had to face opposition from the protesters. Rituparna raised slogans of ‘Go Back’ in the rally. The video of this protest is going viral. But the actress later told that she was pushed so hard that she could have died. Not only this, her car was also beaten up.

Rituparna Sengupta said in an interview to Aaj Tak Bangla, “The way they were pushing me, I could have died. They used abusive language. Young boys and girls started beating my car. No one knew who they were. Their names have not been disclosed. They probably join the protests in this way. Such elements are giving the protest a wrong direction and diverting people’s attention.”

Rituparna Sengupta said, “If this is the situation outside with so many people, then it is no surprise that the girl was so insecure and unprotected that day.” Rituparna questioned the protest against her. Rituparna had joined this protest on 3 September. The protest has been going on for almost a month. However, she has been vocal about this matter on social media. She started it by blowing a conch.

Rituparna Sengupta joined the protest so late. She was opposed for this. She also explained the reason for this. She said, “I could not join the protest on 14 August. But I wanted to show solidarity. I am an artist, our expressions are different, so blowing the conch was my way of standing with the people. It was misunderstood.”
