Mumbai. Rhea Chakraborty, trapped in Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case and drug case, was slowly getting back on track but got stuck in another trouble. Rhea has recently been summoned by Delhi Police in connection with an app-based scam. This scam is said to be worth Rs 500 crore. Along with Rhea, many other celebrities also promoted this app, due to which the users got cheated and lost their money. Bharti Singh and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav were also summoned in this case.
According to the report of Hindustan Times, apart from these three, the police has sent notices to about 20 influencers to investigate their connection with Hibox mobile app. The police took this action after users lodged complaints that they invested in the app and were cheated.
Reports say that users invested their money because they saw celebrities and influencers promoting the app on social media. According to The Hindu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) Hemant Tiwari said, “HIBOX is a mobile application which was part of a well-planned scam. In this, the accused had promised a daily guaranteed return of 1 to 5 percent, which ranged from 30% to 90% in a month. More than 30 thousand people had invested in this app.”
Launched in February, this app initially gave great returns to the users. But from July onwards, due to technical problems and legal matters, payments started getting delayed. Several influential persons, such as Saurav Joshi, Abhishek Malhan, Purav Jha, Harsh Limbachiyaa, Lakshya Chaudhary, Adarsh Singh, and Amit and Dilraj Singh Rawat have received legal notices. Further, it has also been revealed that the main accused, Shivaram of Chennai, has been arrested and Rs 18 crore has been seized from his four bank accounts.
