Uttar Pradesh In Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, the body of an 86-year-old woman was found lying in the bedroom of her house. She was retired from the post of Head of the English Department of RG Girls Degree College, Meerut. She was alone in the house at the time of the incident. Neighbors reported the matter to the police after smelling a foul smell coming from the house.

Police investigation revealed that she had fallen asleep after turning on the room heater in the room. Carbon monoxide gas released from the heater is believed to be the cause of his death.

answer- It is an electronic device, which creates heat. Generally, room heater is very light and portable. It is made of nickel chromium alloy. Its resistance is medium to high level. Due to high resistance, current flows inside it, due to which heat is produced.

However, while producing heat it releases carbon monoxide gas. It is an odorless gas. Therefore it can cause silent death.

Question- What kind of health problems increases the risk of room heater?

answer- Dr. Akbar Naqvi explains that room heater protects us from cold, but its use should be minimized. It can harm health in many ways. Such as-

  • The brain needs oxygen the most in our body. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas, which affects the blood circulation in the body. Due to its excessive quantity in the body, blood supply to the brain does not occur, due to which the risk of sudden death or brain hemorrhage increases.
  • Apart from this, the air is already dry in winter. In such a situation, the room heater works to further reduce the humidity of the air. This may cause skin or eye irritation.

  • If the size of the room is between 100-200 square feet, then a room heater of 2000 watts to 2500 watts is sufficient. It will heat the room sufficiently in 15-20 minutes. This watt room heater is a great option for a living room or a large bedroom.
