The police has taken the accused of attack on Saif Ali Khan into custody for 5 days.
New Delhi. Saif Ali Khan was fatally attacked at his Bandra home late on Wednesday night, immediately after which he was hurriedly admitted to Lilavati Hospital. Where he underwent surgery and now Saif Ali Khan is completely out of danger and he is recovering. Within 72 hours of the attack on the actor, Mumbai Police acted promptly and arrested the accused. Mumbai Police said in its statement that the accused who attacked Saif Ali Khan is a Bangladeshi.
According to the police statement, the accused had come to India only a few months ago and was working in Mumbai by changing his identity. DCP Dixit Gedam of Crime Branch of Mumbai Police said in the press conference, ‘The person who entered Saif Ali Khan’s house with the intention of theft. He attacked Saif with a knife and injured him. His name is Mohammad Ilyas Shariful Islam Shahzad. Age is 30 years. The investigation so far has revealed that the accused had entered the house with the intention of stealing.
Accused in 5 days custody
The police had produced the accused in the court, after which the Mumbai Court sent 30-year-old accused Shariful Islam to police custody for 5 days, where he will now be interrogated in detail. While hearing the case of Saif Ali Khan, Bandra Court said that the demand of Mumbai Police to keep the accused in custody for 5 days is right as the investigation is still in the initial stage.
Mumbai court satisfied with police demand
The court said in its hearing, ‘We are satisfied with the demand of Mumbai Police. The accused has entered the house of a celebrity and attacked him. The police need to recover the clothes worn by the accused that day. Therefore, police custodial interrogation is necessary. The police also have to recover the knife which was used by the accused. The defense lawyer had said in the court that no notice was given to the accused under Section 43A of BNS.
