The marriage broke before the fourth wedding anniversary. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya got married in Goa on 6 October 2017, first as per Hindu customs and then as per Christian customs on 7 October. After marriage, Samantha had changed her name to Akkineni. However, amidst the news of separation, Samantha had removed Akkineni from her Twitter handle and changed it to Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Both of them were going to complete four years of marriage on October 6, 2021, but before that they separated.
