New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actress Asha Parekh had worked in many great films. When she appeared as a guest on the singing reality show ‘Saregama’, she narrated unheard stories from the film world. Asha Parekh, remembering late actor Shammi Kapoor, said that he was like her family, whom she used to call ‘Chachu’. Asha had worked with Shammi Kapoor in the famous film ‘Teesri Manzil’. He said, ‘It is difficult to choose a favorite co-star, but working with Shammi ji has always been a special experience. He was more than a costar. He was like family to me. I used to lovingly call him ‘Chachu’.
Asha Parekh further said, ‘Working became easy because of the easy coordination. His way of working was very different. The most special thing about him was that whenever a song was filmed on him, it seemed as if music was flowing through his entire body. Talking about the choreography, the actress said, ‘We did not have any dance master for the dance sequences. We choreographed everything ourselves. He would say, ‘You do this’ and I would answer, ‘I will do that’ and the steps were done very smoothly. He was very energetic.
Worked in more than 85 films
Helen, Premnath, Iftikhar and Prem Chopra are also in supporting roles in the film ‘Teesri Manzil’ directed by Vijay Anand. Talking about Asha Parekh, she has worked in more than 85 films in a career spanning more than four decades. He made his debut as a child artist in 1952 with ‘Maa’. Later the actress was seen in ‘Dil Deke Dekho’, ‘Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai’, ‘Bharosa’, ‘Love in Tokyo’, ‘Do Badan’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Upkaar’, ‘Caravan’, ‘Aan Milo’. Was seen in films like ‘Sajna’ and ‘Kalia’.
