New Delhi. Bollywood’s veteran music composer and singer AR Rahman has announced divorce from wife Saira Banu. Singer announced on social media that he is ending his 29 years of marriage, after which his children also gave their reaction on this. Amidst all this, AR Rahman’s comment remains a topic of discussion on social media in which he talked about his wife Saira Banu.
Singer had revealed in his old interview that his mother and sister had introduced him and Saira Banu. Talking about his first meeting with his wife, AR Rahman had told Nasreen Munni Kabir, ‘In 1994, when I was about twenty-seven years old, I decided that the time had come to get married. For some reason, I started feeling old. He was always very shy and never talked to girls much.
AR Rahman never talked to women
He further says, ‘While working, I met many young female singers in my studio. I had a lot of respect for him. But I never looked at any girl thinking that she could one day become my wife. I didn’t have time to think about girls. I was working round the clock.
Proposed to wife on phone
About his first meeting with his wife, AR Rahman says, ‘She was very simple and beautiful. We met for the first time on my 28th birthday. It was a very short meeting. We mostly talked on the phone. Saira spoke in English and I asked her if she wanted to marry me.
The couple got married on 12 March 1995. After the distance in their relationship, both of them decided to end their 29 year old marriage.
