New Delhi. Neena Gupta has received the National Award after 30 years and this is her third award. Last Friday, on August 16, the list of winners of the 70th National Film Awards was released, in which Neena Gupta received the Best Supporting Actress Award for the film ‘Oonchai’. In this film directed by Sooraj Barjatya, released in the year 2022, she was seen in the supporting role of Shabina Siddiqui and she garnered a lot of praise for her brilliant performance in this role.

At the age of 65, Neena Gupta has set an example by winning the National Award in a supporting role, but you might be surprised to know that Neena Gupta had said yes to this film of Sooraj Barjatya without even reading the script. She revealed this in an interview given to Pinkvilla in the year 2022.

I was not sure when I got the film
Neena Gupta said in her interview, ‘When he called me to his office to listen to the script, I was shocked. I was thinking that even if he doesn’t narrate the script, I will do it.’ She further says, ‘I was waiting to meet him for 30 years, but there was no possibility anywhere. After that, when he called me to his office, I couldn’t believe it.’
