New Delhi. Shilpa Shetty had given an interview in the year 2013, in which she had used the word ‘Bhangi’. Because of this word, he not only faced criticism from the people but also faced police and court cases. A case was registered against Shilpa under SC/ST Act in Kotwali police station of Churu. Salman Khan’s name was also registered in this case. Now Rajasthan High Court has given big relief to Shilpa Shetty in this matter. The High Court has canceled the FIR registered against Shilpa Shetty. Shilpa Shetty had also apologized on social media after facing opposition to her comment.
A case was registered against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under SC/ST Act in the Kotwali police station of Churu in the year 2017. This FIR has been quashed by the High Court. Recently, there was a hearing regarding the matter in the court of High Court Justice Arun Monga.
The word ‘Bhangi’ is not a caste nor a caste word
Justice Monga clearly said in his decision that FIR cannot be registered under SC/ST Act without section and inquiry. The word ‘Bhangi’ is not a caste nor is it a caste-related word. Rather, it is a slur, which was not said to humiliate anyone but while addressing oneself.
Show of 2013, FIR registered in 2017
On December 22, 2017, Ashok Panwar of Valmiki Samaj had filed a case against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under SC/ST Act at Kotwali police station in Churu. He said that during a TV interview in 2013, Shilpa Shetty and Salman Khan had used the word ‘Bhangi’. This hurt the sentiments of the people of Valmiki community. After the case was registered, the investigating officer issued a notice on 18 January 2018.
