Actress Shilpa Shirodkar has entered ‘Bigg Boss 18’ as a contestant, which is being hosted by Salman Khan. Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Shilpa expressed her happiness of sharing the stage with Salman. Shilpa said that even though both of them are from the same industry, there was not much professional or personal meeting between them. Read some key excerpts from the conversation:
How do you look at the experience of joining ‘Bigg Boss’?
I am a big fan of ‘Bigg Boss’, and doing this show is like a dream come true for me. Sometimes I wonder, “Am I normal? Am I doing right?” This is the first time for me that I am being a part of a reality show, and now we have to see what happens. But really, I’m very excited.
Have you watched some of the earlier seasons of Bigg Boss?
I have watched all the seasons of ‘Bigg Boss’. BB13 was the most beautiful season for me. It was really very real. Their fights, laughter, love, everything felt very real. That season is the sweetest for me. My favorite contestant is Shehnaz Gill. I can say with confidence that she is the world’s favourite. Apart from this, I also liked Gauhar Khan and Heena Khan very much.
Will you have any strategy in the show?
I haven’t really planned anything. I am going in with a very open mind because this is my first experience. Secondly, there are 16 unknown contestants, with whom there is no relation or identity. So I’m going with an open mind, and I’m just trying to come out with good memories and relationships. Hopefully the trophy will also be received along with it.
What do you think is the biggest challenge in the show?
The biggest challenge of this show will be for me that I will have to stay away from my family. Because I am very close to my family. I have been married for 24 years. My husband and I share small things, discuss everything. Our attachment is very deep. We have a 20 year old daughter, who is my best friend. We talk 2-3 times a day. I told him yesterday not to fight with Papa when Mama is not there. She studies in Scotland and is supporting me from there.
What are your thoughts on building relationships inside the house? Will you focus on making friends or just winning titles?
Relationships will be formed in 16 weeks, that is for sure. There will be fights in the beginning, but gradually an attachment will form. I’m open to it, and I intend to make the best memories on this show.
What are you most afraid of? And will you try to face him in this show?
I am not afraid of anything, but yes, it will be very important to keep my emotions under control. I will try to remain strong and not let my emotions dominate.
There are fights over food inside the house, what is your opinion on that?
To be honest, what I feel worst is when people fight over food. I have seen in the last season of ‘Bigg Boss’ that conflicts often arise over food. Some get less, some get more. If I get kitchen duty, I will try my best to ensure that everyone gets equal amount of food, so that there is no dispute over food and everyone can eat comfortably.
How excited are you to share the stage with Salman Khan?
I have never worked with Salman Khan before. Didn’t even get a chance to meet him personally. We both are from the same industry and have definitely crossed paths at times as co-actors or colleagues. We have been in the same industry for so many years, yet have not worked together. But this time I have got a chance to work with him through this show. I am a big fan of Salman Khan. I think he is the best host of ‘Bigg Boss’. His unique style, his funny and sometimes strict behavior with the contestants, all this makes the show even more entertaining.
Before this, there had never been such an opportunity in my career when I could have worked with Salman Khan. He remained busy in his projects and I was busy in my work. But as they say – never say never. Today I am getting this opportunity and I am very excited about it.
