New Delhi: Famous composers like Anu Malik, Himesh Reshammiya have been accused of stealing tunes, but do you know that 3 superhit songs of veteran Indian cinema composer RD Burman are copies of Hollywood songs. The first song is from Amitabh Bachchan-Hema Malini’s film ‘Satte Pe Satta’, while the second song made the pairing of Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore a hit. The pairing of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit had captured the hearts of the audience from the third song.
1. ‘Dilbar Mere’ : This famous song from the 1982 film ‘Satte Pe Satta’ was filmed on Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan. It is sung by Kishore Kumar, whose music was composed by RD Burman inspired by the tune of a Hollywood song.
The tune of the song ‘Dilbar Mere’ is a copy of the Hollywood song ‘Zigeuner Junge’ released in 1967. This Hollywood song was quite popular in the 60s, but most of the Indian audiences were not aware of it.
2. ‘You have some previous relation with me’ This song, recorded in the beautiful voice of Kishore Kumar, is from the 1973 film ‘Aa Gale Lag Jaa’, in which Sharmila Tagore, Shatrughan Sinha and Shammi Kapoor played important roles. The lyrics of the song were written by Sahir Ludhianvi.
The music of this popular song of Hindi cinema was composed by Pancham Da, whose tune is very similar to the theme song of the 1964 TV series ‘The Yellow Rose’, whose tune is based on the folk song ‘The Yellow Rose of Texas’.
3. ‘It felt like meeting you’ : This famous song from the 1989 film ‘Parinda’ has been filmed on Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. It was sung by Asha Bhosle along with Suresh Wadekar. The song was composed by RD Burman.
The tune of ‘Tumse Milke’ is very similar to the Hollywood song ‘When I Need You’ released in 1976. Certainly, Pancham Da had composed the music of ‘Tumse Milke’ inspired by this.
It is noteworthy that every artist moves forward by taking inspiration from the works of others, hence the influence of other artists is often visible in his works. These songs prove that Pancham Da was also inspired by the music of Hollywood songs.
