According to a survey report of Statista in the year 2021, about 32% of adults between 30 and 44 years of age in India are troubled by the problem of gas, acidity and indigestion. This problem is more common among the elderly and senior citizens. Also, due to sedentary lifestyle (working in one place all day and not doing physical movement) and bad food habits, this problem is increasing further.

Problems like gas formation in the stomach, acidity and bloating have become so common that every third person is troubled by it. This problem increases further during the rainy and winter season. Eating oily, fried, spicy food, staying awake till late night, drinking very little water, getting angry and worrying, being inactive are the main causes of gas formation in the stomach.

According to a 2017-18 study published in the National Library of Medicine, 19% of people around the world suffer from gastrointestinal problems.

Question– Why is gas formed in the stomach?

answer- From waking up in the morning to sleeping at night, we keep putting different kinds of things in our stomach, like garbage in the dustbin. We eat, but our stomach has to work hard to digest it.

This often results in problems like constipation, gas, bloating. During digestion, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and methane gas are formed in the stomach, which causes gas or acidity.

If gas is forming in the stomach, the main reason for this is that the food is not being digested properly and it is moving around in the intestines.

Question– What are the symptoms of indigestion and gas formation in the stomach?

answer- The simple answer to this can be that when we fart, it means that there is gas in the stomach. But sometimes this does not happen, but still gas is being formed in the stomach.

Bhopal’s dietician Dr. Anju Vishwakarma says that to get relief from gas in the stomach, it is necessary to include low fat food and green vegetables-fruits etc. in the diet. Fried and spicy food should be avoided. Food that takes a long time to digest like chicken-mutton, junk food etc. should also be avoided. Eating easily digestible fiber rich food will digest it easily, the stomach will be cleaned properly and gas will not be formed.

answer- There can be many reasons for the formation of gas in the stomach. Gas is formed due to indigestion and eating heavy food.

Question: If gas is forming in the stomach, then what are the home remedies to get rid of it?

answer- Sometimes eating heavy protein and rich foods also causes gas in the stomach. If the gas is coming out then the stomach does not feel much discomfort, but if the gas is trapped and is not coming out then problems like stomach pain, cramps, spasms, bloating of the stomach occur.

In such a situation, we can get rid of this gas by adopting some home remedies.

drink lukewarm water

To get rid of gas, drink lukewarm or slightly warm water. This will pass the gas and provide relief. According to a study in the European Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research, drinking lukewarm water regularly and especially in the morning helps the digestive system function properly. This can provide relief from constipation, gas or any other problem.

Add lemon or cumin to lukewarm water and drink it

The problem of flatulence is common when there is gas. Sometimes sour burps also occur. In such a situation, you can add lemon juice to lukewarm water and drink it. Or you can also boil half a teaspoon of cumin seeds in water and drink it. You will get relief from gas.

Eat celery

Celery is found in every kitchen. It is nutritious as it is rich in fiber, antioxidants and minerals. It has been used in traditional Indian medicine for a long time.

In case of gas formation or bloating, chew some celery mixed with rock salt and then drink lukewarm water. You will get relief from gas.

Eat Fennel

Fennel has anti-microbial properties, which remove the problem of gas, burning sensation, pain and bloating in the stomach. Its consumption will also give you relief from gas.

Eat yogurt

Curd is very beneficial for keeping the digestive system healthy. It is helpful in digestion. If there is gas formation in the stomach, then eat curd. You can also take it in the form of buttermilk or lassi.

Black pepper and dried ginger

One hour after having food, mix 1 teaspoon black pepper powder and 1 teaspoon ginger powder in half a glass of water and drink it. Drinking asafetida and rock salt mixed with ginger also provides relief from gas.

Eat bananas

Bananas contain iron and potassium. It helps in reducing stomach irritation and bloating. It also relieves the problem of flatulence or gas. It is best to have it in the morning for breakfast.

According to a study published in Resourgate, banana is an easily digestible fruit. It is low in fat and contains lots of minerals and vitamins. Eating banana is beneficial in stomach diseases, arthritis, diarrhea, piles etc.

The best way is that our daily life should be so healthy, balanced and scientific that there is no problem of gas. For that, it is important to take care of some things.
