Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar’s first choice for the film were Adarsh Gaurav, Shashank Arora and Vineet Kumar Singh.
Question- There are many such dialogues in the film, from which common people and especially people coming from small towns will feel connected. Was a personal experience for all three of you too?
Vineet- Of course, some things were personal. When you dream and come home to come home to fulfill it. After arrival, many situations go through, which you are not ready to face. Many pieces in this story are from the lives of all of us. There is a line of Shashank in the film, ‘If he had got a chance, Apun could have done something.’ This line looks very beautiful to me. What is the line. I think this thought must have come in the minds of millions of people once.
This film is for those who are dreaming but are unable to muster the courage to fulfill it. This film will fire them so that he can dare to fulfill his dream.
Question- Adarsh you are playing the role of this film Nasir Sheikh. My question is, how did you adopt his character?
Ideal- I was trying to spend more and more time with Nasir Bhai. Listen to their story. Knowing how he started making film making and why. How was he in school? I met his old friends. There are people in his life who are linked before making a picture. So they met those people and tried to know about Nasir Bhai. Then I met Nasir Bhai’s family. Efforts were made to know Nasir Bhai as a human being, his intentions and the reasons behind him.

Adarsh plays Nasir Sheikh in the film.
Question- Shashank has shown happiness and pain together in a scene, it is amazing. How did you do?
Shashank- When there is a good director and actor together, it becomes amazing. The character was such that I love acting as much as I. I had not yet got such a character, who loves me as much as my cinema. I left a city and came to act in Mumbai. But Shafiq did not have that priest. He could not leave his city and was stuck in the mill. All these things of Shafiq were enough for me, to feel that pain. I have paid attention to Shafiq’s compulsion, his love for friends, his love for acting, only that part. Hopefully, you will like that part of Shafiq’s life.
Question- What is the process of all of you to get into the role of Nasir and his friends?
Shashank- I think the process is very long and boring. Breaking a person in many parts is processed. He has a dialect. There is a way to sit, its way of thinking. Knowing his intention and feeling. First break all things and then meet it in the process.
Question- Just talk about the last scene, in which you are happy and are constantly crying. What was in mind at that time?
Shashank- I will not be able to tell you whatever was going on in the mind. Shafiq’s dream was being fulfilled in that one scene. At that time I was fulfilling my dream. The one who is seen, he probably feels more. When we are acting, we are wondering what to do. Often we do not mold ourselves into that pain. What was going on in my mind at that time was just work.
Question- What was the most emotional and challenging for all three of you as an actor?
Adarsh- The most challenging for me in the film was when there is difficulties in Shafiq’s life.
Vineet- For me, it was the most challenging outside the film. Director Reema Kagti made me stand in front of the 90 boys. But then I thought that if the director is a convention, then there would be something. Otherwise I used to keep my photo with co-actors and see where I have come. I used to walk in my mind how I would fit in the midst of all this.
I would say that this film is part of the life of very big audiences, where he has reached life that nothing will happen now. They feel that nothing is left now. Should return now. Whether you are in business, preparing for anything or you are going to make a film, you will be able to relate with the emotion of this film. Where you are not ready for more struggle even for a day. But this film tells you that this is the day, which will open the doors of lights for you.

Shashank will be seen in the role of Nasir’s friend Shafiq in the film.
Shashank- For me, there were many emotional points in this film. But I will not give you a spiiler. There is a scene when we all fight. There is a scene when Nasir’s character breaks. All the scenes of the film are my children for me. In such a situation, I will not be able to tell you better by choosing one. 60-70 days we all worked together. A lot of fighting, a lot of happiness, pain, difficult days, easy days how to choose one. It is difficult to do.
