Maruti Suzuki may launch the CNG variant of Swift on September 12.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the CNG version of Swift next week. Its price may be announced on September 12. Swift CNG will be based on the latest generation hatchback which was launched in May this year with a petrol engine.
The price may be Rs 90,000 more than the petrol variant
The Swift CNG will be offered in multiple trims, though it remains to be seen if Maruti will offer a CNG option on the top-spec variants. The Swift CNG is expected to be priced around Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 higher than the petrol powered variants.
Swift CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E engine. This will be the first time that this engine will be paired with CNG. There are other Maruti models in the pipeline that will be powered by the Z12E engine. Their CNG versions will also be available.
Swift’s petrol model was launched on 9 May
Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth generation model of its most popular car Swift in India on May 9. The company claims that the new Swift gives a mileage of 24.8kmpl with MT transmission and 25.7kmpl with automatic transmission (AMT).
The company has kept its starting price at Rs 6.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 9.64 lakh. It has features like wireless charger, multi-information screen and for safety, all variants have 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold control and three-point seat belts.

New generation Swift is available in 9 color options
The company has introduced the new generation Swift with 6 variants and two transmission options. It will have the option of 6 mono-tone colors and three dual-tone colors.
These include Sizzling Red, Luster Blue, Novel Orange, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver and Pearl Arctic White mono-tone colours.
In dual tone Swift will be available in Sizzling Red with Midnight Black Roof, Luster Blue with Midnight Black Roof and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black Roof. Novel Orange and Luster Blue are new colours.

Z-series petrol engine in the new Swift
The biggest change has been made in its powertrain. It has been replaced by a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine from the Z-series instead of the K12 four-cylinder petrol engine found in the current model. This engine generates 82hp of power and 112Nm of torque.
In comparison, the previous model generated 90hp and 113Nm, which was 8hp and 1Nm less. For transmission, the new Swift has the option of 5-speed manual and automatic (AMT) gearbox with the engine.
34% of Maruti’s total sales come from CNG models
With Swift CNG, Maruti wants to increase its sales. Currently, 34% of its total sales come from CNG models. Sales of Maruti’s CNG models have increased by 37% compared to last year.
Maruti has 73% share of CNG cars and SUV sales
Maruti currently has a 73% share of total CNG cars and SUVs sold in India. Maruti Suzuki aims to sell over 6 lakh CNG vehicles in FY25, which will be equal to the entire market’s CNG sales in FY24.
