New Delhi : Mahesh Bhatt was known for powerful films like ‘Sadak’ and ‘Sar’ in the 90s. But when it came to his daughter Alia Bhatt, he decided to do something new. Mahesh Bhatt directed the comedy-masala film ‘Duplicate’ in 1998.
In an old interview, Mahesh Bhatt had said that this is a film which I am excited to show to my children. My previous films were perhaps too dark or violent for children. He said that he wanted to impress his four-year-old daughter Alia Bhatt, hence he made this film.
Journey of ‘Duplicate’
Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre were playing the main roles in ‘Duplicate’. The story of the film was based on a chef and his mistaken identity as a gangster. Shahrukh played the role of both hero and villain in it. The film was produced by Yash Johar and Karan Johar and choreographed by Farah Khan. The film was very good and people liked it very much.
Alia’s journey and inspiration from her father
A few years later, Alia worked as a child artiste in Mahesh Bhatt’s film ‘Sangharsh’. He played the childhood role of Preity Zinta’s character. Then in 2012, Alia made her grand debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’.
