Despite being a flop, this film made a lot of headlines, the reason behind which was Sara Ali Khan’s ‘bad’ acting. Many clips of the actress from this film went viral, which were trolled heavily by social media users. Sara Ali Khan’s acting in ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ was ridiculed a lot. Now 4 years after the film flopped, director Imtiaz Ali has spoken openly about it.
In a conversation with Mid Day, Imtiaz Ali says that the responsibility for the film’s failure lies with him. According to him, the young actors could not fully understand his vision. According to the director, after the film’s failure, his English teacher told him that Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan were like those children in the film who say yes in class even when they do not understand anything.
Love Aaj Kal 2 was a sensitive film
Talking about this, Imtiaz says, there was something very sensitive in Love Aaj Kal. After watching the film, my English teacher told me that she remembered her classes, when children used to say that they understood everything without understanding anything. She said that the young actors in the film did not understand what you were trying to say. I am not blaming Sara and Kartik. Direction is a process of working with an actor, but he is not obliged to understand it because he has handed himself over to you.
There was no coordination with the actors
He further says that he did not understand that he had to explain things to the actors in a different way so that they could make the film their own and get into character. I could not get along well with the script or the actors.
