According to reports, the film’s makers had first approached Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu for the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. However, Mahesh Babu did not show interest in this project, after which director Laxman Utekar cast Vicky Kaushal.
Similarly, Katrina Kaif was first approached for the role of Yesubai Bhonsle. However, why did he reject this offer, the exact reason was not revealed. Later, Rashmika Mandana got this role.

The ‘Chhava’ made under the direction of Laxman Utekar is a period drama, which is based on the life of the great Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Vicky Kaushal played the lead role in the film, while Rashmika Mandana played the role of his wife Yesubai Bhonsle.
Apart from this, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana and Divya Dutta have also appeared in important roles in the film. Due to strong story, grand sets and brilliant acting, this film is very much liked by the people.
