New Delhi. It has been almost a week since the release of Kareena Kapoor’s suspense thriller film ‘The Buckingham Murders’, directed by Hansal Mehta. This film, which was released on 13 September, has flopped badly at the box office. Even after 6 days, the film’s earnings have not reached double digits. Seeing the film flop at the box office, director Hansal Mehta has now broken his silence.
Talking about the box-office results of the female-centric crime thriller film ‘The Buckingham Murders’, Hansal Mehta said that films should not be judged only by numbers i.e. box-office earnings. Talking to DNA, he says, ‘To be honest, I too feel very nervous’.
‘Films don’t get time’
Talking about the big box-office figures, Hansal Mehta further says, “I try to do a cut-off before the release of the film, but this coordination is difficult. What happens is that we have actually made it all about box-office figures. I believe films are art that is passed on from generation to generation, but now we don’t give that much time to films.”
He further says, ‘We judge films only by numbers and I think this is demeaning work and films. People who have nothing to do with films and neither do they have any interest in the money invested in the film, but they also talk as if they have invested money in the films.’
Earnings remained in single digit
Now if we talk about the collection of Kareena Kapoor’s last week’s movie ‘The Buckingham Murders’, then according to the report of Sacnilk, the movie has done a business of Rs 6.5 crores in India till now.
