Khesari Lal Yadav started his career by going from village to village singing songs and dancing in small programs. His father had two brothers. There were seven boys between the two brothers. Khesari had three brothers and his uncle had four sons. There were a total of seven boys in the family, who were in a joint family and are still a joint family. Along with studies, Khesari Lal Yadav was very interested in singing songs and dancing. Along with this, he also used to help in farming and household work. He still has two old houses in the village. Apart from this, another new house is being constructed.

Talking to Local 18, Meghnath Yadav, uncle of Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav, said that Khesari has been a hardworking boy since the beginning. He told that he started his studies from the village school itself and then completed his studies from college. Khesari also helped in farming. Along with this, Khesari Lal also did the work of grazing buffaloes and milking cows and buffaloes. When he used to go to graze buffaloes, he used to sing songs there too and he used to invite people to sing songs in small programs in the village, where he used to sing very good songs.
