TRAI Ensures no delays in OTP Messages from1 December After New Rules

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has assured that there will be no delay in the delivery of essential net banking and Aadhaar OTP messages from December 1. TRAI has issued an update for this. For the last few days, this wrong information was being spread on social media that from next month there will be difficulty in delivery of OTP messages.

TRAI has said that there will be no hindrance in timely delivery of such messages. In the last few months, the telecom regulator has taken steps to curb the growing problem of cybercrime. These especially include banning fake calls and fake messages. For this, new rules were issued from October 1. These included creating a system for tracking the initiation of bulk messages for telecom companies. The deadline for implementing these rules was 31 October but after the request of telecom companies, TRAI extended it to 30 November. Telecom companies had demanded extension of the deadline citing technical challenges.

Recently TRAI had directed telecom companies to stop promotional calls from unregistered callers. Along with this, telecom companies were asked to blacklist spam calls. As per TRAI directive, all telecom companies in the country need to stop pre-recorded, computer generated or other types of spam calls from unregistered telemarketers or unregistered senders. Consequences for those who break this rule have also been decided. Is. TRAI’s instructions stated that if an unregistered telemarketer is found to be involved in spam calls, he may have to lose his phone connections.

To prevent the problem of spam calls, TRAI has also started using blockchain technology. Information related to blacklisting of the sender of spam calls will be received from the Originating Access Provider (OAP) to all other access providers within 24 hours. After this, all the telecom connections of the sender making spam calls will be disconnected. Apart from this, unregistered telemarketers making commercial voice calls will be shifted to TRAI’s blockchain platform within 30 days of the issue of this notice.
