New Delhi. Producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra brought the film ‘Parinda’ in the year 1989. Earlier, he was going to play the role of Anil Kapoor’s brother in this film. But on his demand Jackie Shroff was signed in the film. Veteran actor Nana Patekar has revealed that it was because of Anil Kapoor that he was replaced from the film ‘Parinda’. Along with this, he has made many other revelations.
Recently Nana Patekar spoke openly with Anil Kapoor. He talked about being replaced by Jackie Shroff in the 1989 film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Patekar told that this change also happened because of Anil Kapoor.
Anna became because of Anil Kapoor
In an interview, Nana Patekar has revealed that you troubled me a lot during ‘Parinda’. Let me tell you, I was going to play the role of a brother in the film. We had also rehearsed. Jackie was cast in the film instead of me because of Anil. However, I would like to thank him, because had he not insisted on Jackie, I would not have got the role of ‘Anna’.
Anil Kapoor gave clarification
Reacting to this, Anil Kapoor said, ‘I may be wrong, but I felt that Jackie would be the best option for my brother’s role in ‘Parinda’. But I have no personal issue with him, he just gave a suggestion to the director, ultimately the decision was the director’s. On this Nana said, ‘But you were a star, of course he would have listened to you. However, Jackie did a good job in the film. He also won the Filmfare Award for his performance.
Let us tell you that Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit were in the lead roles with Anil Kapoor in ‘Parinda’. The film won two National Film Awards and many other awards. Vidhu Vinod Chopra had revealed in an interview that he had made this film with a budget of about Rs 12 lakhs, but when it came to the theatres, it became a huge hit. Made with a budget of only Rs 12 lakh, the film had a worldwide collection of Rs 9 crore.
