A user (@seriousfunnyguy) shared a post on X. A photo has also been shared in which an Android smartphone (likely: Samsung S-Ultra model) and an iPhone (likely: iPhone 16 series model) have the Uber app open. Both apps have the same pickup and drop locations, but the charges for the service appear to be different, with the iPhone showing the higher fare.
In his post, the user writes, “Same pickup point, destination and time, but get 2 different rates on 2 different phones. This happens to me because I always get more money on Uber than on my daughter’s phone.” Get rates. So most of the time, I request them to book my Uber. Does this happen to you too? What’s the hack?”
The post made on December 23 has currently received more than 9 lakh views, more than 850 reposts and more than 1300 replies. Some users raised the possibility that the app might have been designed to show higher prices on Apple devices and lower prices on Android devices, while others called it a mere coincidence. Some users reported having similar experiences with him or his companions.
Meanwhile, Uber also replied to the user’s post and explained the reason. According to Uber, rates vary depending on the pick-up point, time of arrival at the destination or drop-off location. In its reply, Uber writes, “Several differences affect prices between these two rides. The pick-up point, ETA, and drop-off point on these requests vary, which will result in different fares. Does not personalize travel pricing based on cell phone manufacturer.”
The company also shared a link in the post, on which all the information about Uber’s pricing method is available.

Paying close attention to the picture, some people commented on the post that even though both the pictures have the same pick-up or drop-off location, there is a difference in the distance of the drivers present nearby, which affects the rates. by a user wrote“The distance of the cab from the pickup point is different in both the cellphones hence the rate is showing higher. Now if the cab comes from a distance then the change in price will be visible.”
