Today, even though Nana Patekar has everything, there was a time when he used to get only one meal a day. The circumstances at home were such that he started working at the age of 13. Recently Nana Patekar remembered his childhood days. He told that he had grown up at a very young age.
In an interview given to Siddharth Kannan, Nana Patekar said, ‘I started working at the age of 13. I turned 30 very soon. At the age of 13, I got one meal a day. The monthly salary was Rs 35. At that time I was in 9th class. Then I studied in 10th and 11th, even then I was working.

Nana Patekar said, ‘I think circumstances decide your age, but I never let circumstances decide my age. Now I decide my age as 18 or 19 years old. I don’t think of anything except laughing and joking, I don’t feel afraid of death. One day you have to die. So many actors are gone. It feels very bad. Then I think that our time will also come, we too will go away one day.
