Imtiaz Ali recently spoke about the issue of casting couch and women’s safety in Hindi cinema during the 55th International Film Festival of India. After which Imtiaz is being trolled a lot on social media. Meanwhile, now film producer-writer Vinta Nanda has also reacted to Imtiaz’s statement.
Women were and are safe in Hindi cinema – Imtiaz
Imtiaz said, women are completely safe in Hindi cinema. When Imtiaz made this statement, Bhumi Pednekar and Vaani Tripathi were also present on the stage with him. During this he said, women were and are safe in Hindi cinema.
Women should know how to say ‘no’ – Imtiaz
Imtiaz said, ‘I have been a director in the Hindi film industry for 15-20 years, I have also heard a lot about casting couch, or what you are saying that when a new girl comes, she feels scared. But I feel that women should know how to say ‘no’, because it is not that the girl who compromises will definitely get that role. There are many exploiters, if a girl can say no and respects herself then the other person also respects her.
Vinta Nanda wrote a note to Imtiaz
Film producer-writer Vinta Nanda did not like this statement of Imtiaz at all. After which he wrote a note for Imtiaz on Instagram, ‘He said who gave Imtiaz Ali the right to speak on the women of the entertainment industry. Kareena Kapoor is safe because she has everything. And, Imtiaz should know that there is such a thing as casting couch. Why has she been chosen to speak on behalf of women? So that they can cover up the whole truth? If people like him gain so much understanding that they do not speak on things about which they have no experience, then it can be assumed that change is taking place.
Vinta Nanda’s Instagram post
Vinta also tagged Imtiaz in the caption of the post and wrote, ‘It is very surprising that Imtiaz Ali is giving such statements about women’s safety and that too at a place like IFFI Goa, without any experience in all this. One should avoid talking on issues.
